Devotional Truth

My devotional today was entitled "Get Yourself Together" and since I've been a little torn and unbalanced lately, I thought it was a sign.

It spoke of how Christians seem to have one foot nailed to the floor when it comes to their faith. They spin in circles, around & around and never seem to grow. They will say they believe the Word, but then in the next breath say they know God is in control but they are so worried about their finances they can't sleep. They are unable to put their whole life in God's hands.

To get yourself together, you have to get your spirit, soul, and body in alignment. My devotional pointed out the way to do that is by:

1) Feeding your spirit with the word. Spend daily time with the word, meditate on it.
2) Set your mind on "things above" to get your soul in line.
3) Get your body in line by teaching it to act, on the truth that has been planted in your mind and spirit by the Word.

They scripture that went with the devotional was 1 Thessalonians 5:14-24

14 And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. 15 Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.
23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!!

New Year...New Beginnings

I always love the new year. It always reminds me of a new beginning, to start over, to start anew. I try not to stress about "resolutions" but as the years go by and I get older, I realize that I need to set "goals" not resolutions in order to keep growing.

Some of my goals for the new year include:

1) Learning to manage my time better. (I think this will be an ongoing thing for YEARS!!)  I have a bad habit of attempting to be organized and to manage my time, but it always goes haywire. This year my goal is to find a system that works for me and stick with it.

2) to run 320 miles before my 32nd birthday on June 6th.  I like it, it's a nice round, do-able number.

3) To continue to grow in my relationship with Christ. I feel like I did change and grow last year, and I want to continue to do that.

4) to spend regular time with my handsome hubby and my great kids. These days when they are little and want to be with us won't last forever, and I want to cherish each moment.

5) To become more of "me" not who I think that the world wants me to be. I think with the good Lord above, and His help, it can happen. Like I said before I'm entering my 32nd year, and I want it to just keep getting better and better.

Sunday Scripture

Tell the older women to behave as those who love the Lord should. They must not gossip about others or be slaves of wine. They must teach what is proper, so the younger women will be loving wives and mothers. Each of the younger women must be sensible and kind, as well as a good homemaker, who puts her own husband first. Then no one can say insulting things about God’s message. (Titus 2:3-5 CEV)

Goodbye 2011!!

I realize that I haven't blogged since the end of 2011.

Good-bye 2011! It was nice to get through the year and be content and by joyful.

Oh what a year it was...

My son started First Grade and turned 7 years old!!

My daughter started pre-k and turned 4 years old!!

My husband and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary in June!!

My grandmother celebrated her 80th birthday!!

We had a blast this summer playing at the pool, hanging out with friends, and spending time with each other and friends.

We had a bad snowstorm sweep through Texas earlier in the year, that made us miss a WHOLE WEEK of school. It was so much fun staying warm and playing with my kids the whole week.

I finished 9 hours toward my Master's degree.

We took my son to his first trip to Six Flags and to ride his first roller coaster.

Two of my best friends had two brand new babies, and they are absolutely adorable!!!

2011 was a great year laughing with my husband and kids, and having fun the whole year. I'm praying for a blessed 2012!!
