I'm Sorry Momma, I'm now getting Payback

After getting off work late last night, I stayed up with the hubby watching TV. Then this morning we got up early to go to a friend of ours birthday party. It was fun and the kids had a blast eating cake and playing baseball.  We then went out to eat as a family and did a little grocery shopping at Walmart.

Now I'm getting payback. We decided to let both kids have friends over. Well I am still up and so are the kids, hubby is watching a movie in the other room. Trying to get the kids to wind down and go to bed, HA!! I remember many nights of staying up late with the girls talking and watching movies, so I guess I'm getting what I gave all those years ago. :)

Ahh summer

Just wanted to say that nothing says summer like kiddos playing on the trampoline with a sprinkler underneath it.  And I got out there and played some too!

Then we moved the sprinkler and I let the kids play some more and then just dried them off and stuck them in their pj's.  Another thing is that it is HOT here. And besides the fact that my truck reads 104 on the thermometer this is what I came home too.

You know it's hot when the cat parks himself next to the fridge to keep cool. Made this momma laugh!!

Turning Around the Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Yesterday was a horrible, no good, very bad day.  I know everyone has experienced one of these where several things seem to pile up into one day that spread out over a few days, you could handle but one day crammed full of them is enough to make you want to pull your hair out. However, I'm not going to complain and whine about it, instead I'm going to try and turn it around.

I am grateful for a momma who helps me whenever I need it, whether its watching the kids for an hour so I can run errands, or picking up, drying, and bringing back laundry since the dryer is still having some issues.

I am grateful for my husband who is "Mr. Fix-It" and hopefully will have the dryer fixed once the part reaches us hopefully within the next 7 to 10 business days. :)

I am grateful for a spiritual momma & friend who helps me and understands me.

I am grateful for healthy, loving kiddos that still want hugs and kisses from their momma.

I am grateful for a home to raise our family in and to spend time & love my husband and kids in.

I am grateful for sweet, creamy cups of coffee in the morning when the house is quiet and still.

I am grateful for the love of a heavenly Father, who takes care of us, and reminds me daily that some things aren't worth griping about.  Thank you for my many blessings, Lord.

I pray that anyone who reads this will be blessed today and count their many blessings, even on those "horrible, no good, very bad days."

Weekend wrap up

This weekend was nice & relaxing. We took the kids to Damon's grandparents and spent the weekend having fun with his aunts, swimming, eating, playing wii and doing a whole lot of nothing. It was awesome!!

Marvelous Monday

This was my view this morning after getting ready for work and I decided to have my coffee and Bible time outside while it was nice and cool. I wasn't able to get all of the pinks, oranges, purples, and blues in the clouds because of a pecan tree in the way, but you are able to get the general idea.

That little bit of quiet time was just what I needed this morning before the hustle and the bustle of Monday morning started. I sat outside listening to the birds sing and there was a cool breeze, and it was just me and the sounds of the morning. I know that other moms have to feel the same way that I do sometimes. At times it feels like I'm a top that a kid has wound up and has let go, and I'm just spinning.

Oh, but sweet mamas, it doesn't have to be like that. And just for a moment this morning, I GOT IT! Now, that doesn't mean I'll have it later, but I did get a glimpse of it this morning. The calm that resonates throughout your body and the knowing that no matter how this world shakes you, it will be ok. More than that, it will be great, because we are daughters of a King.  I heard a song this weekend, Scars, by Jonny Diaz, and it resonates with me still. We all have scars in our lives, sweet mamas, but we don't have to dwell on those, because the good Lord has covered our scars with His. I hope that whoever reads this will step out for a few quiet moments in the still of the morning, or in the evening, or even steal a few moments in a closet to steady themselves with the love of the Lord.

Top Ten Tuesday

My Top Ten Tuesday of Mixed Blessings

(My list of mixed blessings)

10. My dryer has been out for a week today...blessing is that most of my clothes are getting dry outside or in emergencies, taken to my momma's house to utilize her dryer, which means a smaller electric bill for me. May have to start doing this more often!

9. Had my best friend's daughter over this weekend to play with my girl. Princess JJ is older than Princess Emma by a year and a half they have a blast together. On Sunday we had both of them and Landon and his friend out at the pool. Had so much fun, but I was one tired momma after it was all said and done.

8. Rain..Thank you Lord for the rain I know we NEED it in the worse way, but it does hamper the drying of clothes outside. But let me reiterate I am NOT complaining about the rain. Just so you know Lord!!

7. A friend and her darling baby boy were baptized Sunday. Yeah!!!

6,  I started a second job working two nights a week as a waitress. It's just a little extra money for me and to help support any extras that we as a family will want to do, for example, taking vacation this summer.

5. Summer classes for my masters...this class seems really interesting, but I only have 9 more hours to complete which equals out to 3 more classes. It's SO close and YET so far away.

4. Got to go out to eat and shopping with my hubby on Saturday and then he took Miss Emma out fishing while I was at work. She caught a fish and her and daddy had a grand ole time.

3. Mother/daughter pedicures on Friday while I was off work. It was so cute and we took a pic of our toes together.

2.  My little soldier Landon not only wanted to wear his camo pants and shirt for the third day in a row. (A momma has got to wash them sometime) but he lost his third tooth this morning!!

1. VBS at a church just down the street from our home. It is a blessing! Many of the kids friends go to church there and they feed them a light dinner. And it's in the evenings which allows me to do a few extra things around the house. They have so much fun but I sure do miss them while they are gone.

Nine years... Anniversary

Nine years ago today I was getting ready for my wedding day. My husband & I had been together 4 years before that. It was a great day & I couldn't wait to get to be Mrs Damon Thompson.
We've had our ups & downs. Vacation in Mexico, cruise with friends for my thirtieth birthday, laughs, great times with friends hanging out, surprise getaways, two great kids, too many blessings to name. We've gone through the loss of a parent, & best friends to tragedy, a miscarriage, fights, tears, the suffering of life.
I know we are a little blip on the radar right now in terms of years of marriage. I want to be like my husbands grandparents, still married after 60+ years, & absolutely precious together. I want to still be able to laugh & enjoy each other.
Happy anniversary to my love!!
