First 10k

Well Saturday was my first 10k.  I finished in 1 hour and 10 minutes.  I had fun and felt great crossing that finish line. Next year perhaps the half-marathon?? We'll have to see.

Snow Day

After the third big snow we've had this year (crazy for where we are) we played outside with the kids. By the way, Miss E, loves to throw snowballs. Mr L likes to build hills out of the snow.

I liked this snowfall, everything was covered by a beautiful white blanket, but the roads, so far, are passable.  After playing in the snow, the kids took a bath, while I made chicken-n-dumplings.  We then watched a movie, and now the kids are in bed while Damon watches TV and I do homework.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in a little bit tomorrow morning....

Weekend Report

Ahh, we had a nice weekend. Saturday was spent cleaning, got in a workout, and took the kids with my mom as backup to go grocery shopping at Walmart. Completely forgot several things we "wanted" not needed but Ijust wanted to look at. But the kids had a blast playing at McDonalds.  No four star restaurants here!

Sunday we all went to church and the sermon was very good. Also one of the ladies in our congregation signed a song. Within the first few moments I was trying not to blubber like a baby.  It was so beautiful. We then packed up some lunch and the kids and headed to the park to take advantage of a beautiful, sunny, 75 degree day before the cold weather comes again.  We had so much fun playing at the park.

I had a meeting at church and then came back and was productive working on my reading assignment for this week. Is it rather bad, that it's taken me a month of being back in school to get back in the swing of things? I don't know this material really well, so it's a learning curve, plus with everyone being sick it's just been rather crazy at our house.

Hope everyone has a Marvelous Monday and had a great weekend!

Our Exciting Life...

You know the days when you were single, or even before kids your nights consisted of going out and having fun with friends. Maybe drinking and staying out till all hours dancing.

Yeah...those days are a distant memory for me. Don't get me wrong, they were fun at the time, but now I have a whole new definition of fun.

My fun includes hanging out with my husband and kids. Last night I made dinner and worked around the house while Damon and the kids played. Then we watched Madagascar 2 and got the kids ready for bed. Damon went to a friends' house for some guy time and I finished the third book in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. It was just hopping at our house last night!!

Then today - Miss E woke up some time during the night and wouldn't go back to sleep. I got up with her around 5:30. We laid on the couch and started a movie, I was out within ten minutes but I woke up a couple of hours later with Mr. L watching the movie we had started because it started over again. Miss E stayed asleep till around 10 o'clock! I cleaned our house because it really, really needs it. I'm now working on folding laundry and waiting for 3pm because I have to go to boot camp for our Challenge at the Fitness Center.  After that our exciting life continues when I head to the neighboring town to Walmart to get groceries.  Mom's coming with me to "herd" the kids. It gives Grandma some time with her little munchkins.

Aww the times they are changing..especially after you have kids...

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for God's love & healing strength through adversity. A co-worker's friend is battling some odds that seem like a mountain. I am thankful that God has helped her make it this far & I pray for his healing to continue.

I am thankful for good friends that may not be near to us physically but are so close to us spiritually that we can pick up where we left off after not seeing each other for months.

I am thankful God gave me one more day to spend with my husband, kids, & friends.

I am thankful that I found something that applies so much to my life right now..."the secret to having it all is believing you already do."

My thankful Thursday...

Marvelous Monday

We had a marvelous Monday. We went back to school today after having a snow day Friday.  Mr L had his Valentine's party at his pre-k today.  He had, I'm sure, way too much sweets and good fun. :) I was a little sad I was at work and not able to make it there. But there is one good thing about social networking, is that other mothers will post pictures that you can see.

We got home and Miss E had to of course hop in her favorite thing, a bubble bath just when we got home. After she got out we played with some bouncy balls, and her laughing was the most magical sound on earth.  Now we just finished eating and we're sitting around watching Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. It seems to be a pretty cute movie, but it's a little hard to work on stuff for school and watch it at the same time.

I need to finish my homework and then get kids into bed so Damon and I can watch Couple's Retreat. So apparently it's also a Movie Monday...

So far we've had a Marvelous Monday...just hope Tuesday wll follow suit

Valentine's Day

Well, we had a nice surprise Thursday afternoon. It started sleeting and snowing around 4 pm and came down hard and made things pretty slick and fun to drive on. Of course my husband had to go out and play on it in his 4-wheel drive. We made it a family thing and went out. It was absolutely beautitful, seeing the snow covered fields and the white trees.

We made a snowman and a snowball fight when we got home. When we came inside to warm up and had a message on our answering machine letting us know that school was cancelled tomorrow. We never have a snow day!! This is Texas, people.  Of course by late afternoon Friday, the snow was gone, but we had fun playing inside and spending time together.

Damon and I went out Friday night to a neighboring town and ate seafood.  It was soooo good!! It was nice to go out and not have to worry about our daughter throwing a fit and not wanting to eat. I love her, but she's 2, so eating out is supposed to be at fast food places with playgrounds, not a sit down dinner. We came straight home and had a nice night sitting on the couch together and watching TV after the kids went to bed.   Saturday was another nice day with sunshine! The kids and I and our dog went to the park and enjoyed the nicer weather.

On Valentine's day, I so wanted to go to church, but we all woke up with our allergies making us miserable. So we decided to stay home.  We went grocery shopping later, and Grandma and Great-Grandma came by with gifts for the kids.  Now we are sitting down eating chili since the weather has again thrown us for a loop. It was 57 when we left to go to the store, hour later, it was 42 and dropping. It is now 38 degrees and steadily dropping.

I got my handsome husband a sports coat for Valentine's day. He wasn't expecting it, and it felt so good  to surprise him. He got me a pretty cross to go on my "wall of crosses" that I am working on in our dining room, chocolates, and then my son surprised me with some flowers while we were at the store today. I feel that I had a great Valentine's day spending time with my great family.  I am so thankful that the Lord has given me so much.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for my job that allows me to learn more and for our safe trip to and from a conferrence in the past few days.

I am thankful for a husband who is more crafty than I am since he makes great hats for his son's Valentine's Day party.  Haha!!

I am thankful for a wonderful husband who not only had our two children while I was gone, but also kept the house clean and dishes were washed!!

I am thankful for a warm home during these cold winter days.

I am thankful for the Lord above that has given me my wonderful family, my work, my health, and everything in my life that makes it crazy, hectic, and incredible.

Balance....yeah right

Our family is one of many battling the respritory infections that going around our town. Miss E ran fever over the weekend. Took her to the doctor this morning & she has bronchitis. We got loaded up on medicine & have to go back Wednesday.

What really hurt me today was having to go to work while my baby girl was sick. I know all Mom's face this so I don't mean to whine, but it just stinks. Maybe it's because I feel a responsiblity to my job that I felt like I had to go back to work for at least a little while & finish up a few things. It's a never ending battle trying to balance everything.

Even right now, miss E's in my lap resting while I work on my laptop...balance...yeah right
