Memorial day Weekend

We left Friday to meet A big group of people at the lake. We had such a blast. Even the snake that was hanging around the water yesterday couldn't dampen our spirits. (we did get out of the water when we saw it)

I didn't get any pictures and barely touched my phone the whole weekend. I was busy having fun with my kids & friends. We ate like kings. Thanks to all the cooks!! Breakfast outside camping is just great!! We swam, played, played horseshoes, & the kids played with the other kids there.

We all got sunburned by me more than my family. We think the sunscreen we were using was old because I reapplied often and still got burned. Oh well had fun anyway, & it was great to get away & unplug!!

Praying for our men & women serving anywhere today, & all of those who fought for our freedom before.

Changing Monday

Ok I have to admit, I haven't been so good on the diet thing in the past few weeks. With my finals for my master's classes and the end of the school year, yeah, healthy eating has bombed by the wayside. But after some soul searching on my part after realizing that my mild depression that creeps back up on me and makes me a witch to those I love (and an emotional trainwreck) I realized that I have to do something and not sit idle.

So I'm jumping back on the Reshaping It All train and will try to go through and keep you up to date on my progress. In one chapter of the book the authors state that you have to have a goal, but not only a goal but a way to achieve it, so here it is, for all the world to see.

1)      What is the goal you hope to attain?

T                     a. To be healthy and skinny. I want to feel good, I want to throw off this devil called depression that constantly nips at my heels.  One way to do that is to eat right and exercise. I want to have enough energy to do all the things that I have to do, work, chase after kids, clean house, spend time with my husband, and not crash the minute I sit down at night. I want to weigh 142 pounds and not get above 145. That seems to be a good place for me to be.  I’ve come to discover you can’t eat the way I’m eating and lose weight. (Chocolate every night just doesn’t seem conducive to losing weight, darn it!!)

1)      What do you hope to gain by reaching this goal?
a.       I want to be healthy and have energy. That’s the main thing. Many nights I crash as soon as I get still in my recliner after work, kids, cooking, cleaning, kids in bed, mom in the chair…zzzzzz. I feel tired a lot of the time, and also I’ve come to notice that I get more irritable and snappish with my family if I don’t work out. I’ve come to find out that I feel better and don’t snap as much when I work out and eat right. It’s something I HAVE TO DO rather than taking pills to put me in a happier mood.  I’m a busy girl, and I have to fuel myself properly or it won’t work.
2)      What is the cost?
a.       What to do to achieve my goal
                                                               i.      Drink 6 glasses of water a day
ii.      Drink sparkling water w/ fruit rather than soda
iii.      Work out for an hour 3 times a week at minimum – get up in the mornings and workout if I know I can’t do it right after work
iv.      Get enough sleep at night – at least 6.5 to 7 hours
                                                             v.      Pack my own better alternatives to junk food to bring to work and on trips so I’m not tempted to snack on chips at work
                                                           vi.      Pray!!

That’s my game plan. I have stuck to it once, unfortunately, it fell by the wayside when this crazy thing called life got really busy. I hope to blog about my journey with good news to report along the way.

Our week in Review

Well another week has flow by. Mr. L has only six or seven more days of school & then he's in first grade. Where does the time go??

Miss E is registered for pre-k in the fall. I hope they are ready is all I have to say. :) I love my little girl, but she is definitely her own person.

We signed up our son to start tiger cub scouts in the fall, & my husband, who is an Eagle Scout is so excited!! I am too, I have to say.

We went to a great birthday party yesterday for some friends, & then hubby & I went & listened to some music. It was a great night out.

Well gotta go, the ironing for some reason won't get up & do itself. ;)

Weekend wrap up

My hubby was in a fishing tournament this weekend. We stayed with some friends while he fished. Our friends invited their friends over & at one point there were 12 kids under the age of 15 there. ;) it was exciting, to say the least. Miss E made a new friend this weekend.

Mother's Day

We celebrated my mother's day today. Instead of making it all about me, I decided to do something with the whole family.

We went and saw Rio (cute, cute movie) and had a blast! I thought maybe it wouldn't be that crowded since it was a matinee and the movie had been out for awhile, but apparently everyone had the exact same thought we did.  We wound up sitting in 3 seats with Miss E bouncing from hubby's lap to mine.

Then we took the kids to McDonald's and they played while me and the hubby ate and talked. Then a quick grocery run, and back home. The kiddos played in the sprinkler on the trampoline and of course Miss E HAD TO play in the mud.

Then this is the cross my husband made me to go on my "wall o' crosses" right now I have 23

May try to get in some more work for all my finals before I finally throw in the towel and call it a night.

Happy Mother's Day Ladies!!

Small town changes

I downloaded a book awhile back called Reshaping It All by Candace Cameron Bure. I loved it because it combined faith & re-examine your priorities to put your faith & health on the forefront. Now they have started a challenge known as the 65 day challenge at http://reshapingitall.com/. I've signed up in hopes to re-read the book & start getting my health & my faith a little push.

Now today I'm a little sore because I ran my first half marathon today. :)

See the pretty medal I received?? I ran it in 2:44, which was good considering it rained on us, gusting winds, & a pause for a hail storm that skirted by. They asked us to wait unless we thought we could finish in 25 minutes, I waited thinking I didn't want to mess my foot or knee up ( got injured training for the race). As I saw people passing by, I decided what the hey, & jumped back in.

Please excuse the hair- I had a hat on this morning. And my 3 year old took the picture.

Here's Miss E with my medal on. I had fun even with the weather not working with us. 1st Half down- wonder how many I can do??
