Thankful Thursday

I saw this on another bog and thought it was a good idea...

What I'm thankful for on this Thursday...

I am thankful for good friends..I had lunch with a girlfriend of mine that is my "Spiritual" Mom and we talked about things and it was a great stress relief.

I'm thankful for my family...we all were home and watched a movie together tonight.

I'm thankful for our health...right now we are all battling some form of sickness in one way or another, but it's only the small things and nothing big, so I'm very thankful for that, and pray that it doesn't get any worse.

I am thankful for a sturdy roof over our head...it is raining cats and dogs and I'm thankful our roof no longer leaks and we have a safe warm home to come home  too.

Lastly, I am thankful to the Lord above, without Him none of this is possible. I thank Him for each day He gives me to spend with the ones I love.

Brings me back....

It's been a rough week last week and today didn't start much better. I won't go into a whole lot of detail, but lets just say I feel like I have a big BULLSEYE on my back and everyone keeps kicking me.

Our whole family has been sick with the respiratory sickness that's been going around.  I'm the only one that hasn't had it, so far, knock on wood. Today Mr L had a doctor's appointment because he sounded awful. Turns out he nearly has bronchitis, and has to be put on steriods.

After I went to another job after my other job today, I picked up the kids and brought them home.  I made dinner and we sat down to eat. I asked Mr L if he wanted to say the prayer. We folded our hands and started praying, after we finish, Miss E started babbling and folded her hands in prayer. I found it so sweet.

Then she was eating her dinner, one english pea at a time. It was quite comical watching her try to get one pea on her fork and then bring it up to her mouth and go "Yummmm!"

I realized about this time, that no matter what happens, mean people, bills mounting outside the door, a hard day at work, the three people I look across at the table every night during dinner that's what matters.  As long as I have my husband and my kids, that's the best part and it brings me back to center.

Weekend Recap

Here is our weekend recap.  Friday night  Mom and I took the kids grocery shopping.  We have to drive around 30 minutes to go to any kind of larger grocery store, and of course it was raining.  We took the portable DVD player along so mom and Miss E stayed in the car watching a movie while me and Mr L took on the grocery shopping.

Saturday we woke up and I had planned on just hanging out around the house. I got a call and had to run to a company here in town that I do computer work for. I had to clean out a virus on one of their computers.  That threw off my idea of just hanging out around the house for the day.  Later on that evening Damon and I invited my mom over to eat before she would  watch the kids while we went to friends birthday party at the Toad, a bar in a small town about 15 minutes away. Did I mention that my family owns it? Yup, it's actually kind of cool, my family owns a bar.  I'm going off a little off the beaten path, but they helped Cranfills Gap get chosen as the small town that was sent to Las Vegas as a promotional venture for the city. And their vidoes were on YouTube and the there were promotional pictures used for tourist advertisements for Vegas.  The Toad is the happening place to be around here on a weekend night.

We had yummy steaks, mashed potatoes, corn, and mushroom and onions for dinner before heading over to the Toad for Millie's birthday.  The band was the Kevin Seale Band, and they totally kept it going and their music is really good too. It was nice to get away and decompress after this week. It was great having fun with friends that I haven't seen in awhile. Plus getting away with my hubby for an evening is always welcome.

I hoped to go to church this morinng but Miss E woke up with a stopped up nose and coughing. It sounded like her throat was sore by the way she talked, and she kept going "Ow!" after she coughed.  So we stayed home. Damon watched the kids while I went to the gym.  We watched the Cowboys get their butts whooped by the Vikings.  The kids took advantage of this unseasonably warm weather we're haivng and played outside for a little while. In fact Mr L is passed out in his little chair in the living room right now.  Damon and a friend of ours are watching the San Diego & Jets game.  Miss E and I were blowing bubbles earlier. She kept on trying to stomp them out. It was too cute.

Tomorrow starts another week...I pray that God helps me to get everything I have to get done both at home and at work.  I start back on my classes on Tuesday so I'm anxious to start the craziness of school, husband, kids, work, friends and everything else..

Kids..Husband..and Training Oh My!

Well we made it home Sunday night after a great weekend with friends and family in Houston.  My home looks like a bomb went off in it with dishes, clothes, and stuff piled every which way. We got home about 9 Sunday night. I woke up late on Monday morning and dashed out the door to work. We were in training all day so I let later than usual, picked up the kids, and went out to work on a side job I have at my husband's company working on computers.  We stayed out there for about an hour, and we came home, I threw together microwaved whatever for dinner and fell asleep in my chair at 8:30 with a major migraine coming on.

Tuesday we had more training that ended late so instead of coming straight home to work on my messy house, I went to the gym to get a work out in, and then to the grocery store and nowI'm at home working on my blog while making sloppy joes and fries, and trying to load dishes in the dishwasher...and loading laundry.

This is a random blog post about really nothing in particular by the way...

My loving husband discovered if you blow out the filter that your air conditioner uses for your truck it makes the ac/heater run more efficiently.  My husband doesn't buy me diamonds or fancy things, he takes care of me and my kids by fixing stuff, maintenancing the trucks, taking care of the lawn, and pretty much taking the kids whenever I ask him too, it's so great. I love him so much!!

The technology department has been in training with a contractor for the past two days. I'm learning a lot of new things that will be great when we get the hang of them, but right now I've taken in so much information that my brain has turned to mush.

It's been a week and I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday. I have a lot to do, including training tomorrow afternoon.  In order to decompress from ths "AWWWWWWWWWWWWW" week I hope to go to a local restuarant/bar for a friend of ours birthday Saturday night. I'm really needing some adult time with some good friends and have a good time to help me unwind and pull me out of the funk I seem to be in. I don't even really want to drink, I just want to spend time with friends.

Here are some more pictures from our fun trip to see the monster trucks.

Our weekend away...

We left Friday to stay with some friends in Houston & take our son to the monster truck show at reliant stadium.

We left right after work Friday & headed down there. I don't know what it was but I barely woke up the whole trip till we were nearly to Houston. I wasn't a good navigator, and we got lost thanks to some miscommunication between Damon & Clint. Finally got to kim & clint's house at around 11.
Spent saturday lazing around their house & letting the kids play till we left to go to the show. It was pretty nice. Drove to the stadium & had a blast at the show. Mr L had so much fun!! The freestyle part of the show is always so much fun. Some of those boys left it all on the track so to say. Braved the traffic out of there...whoo..that's an experience. People in Houston are crazy drivers. Sorry but we nearly saw 4 wrecks in the parking lot leaving & then nearly got rear ended getting on the interstate.

Today we woke up & drove to woodville to visit Damon's brother whose at the Lewis unit there. He made some mistakes with drugs. It was a good visit. I haven't seen him in two years. He looked good. I also think being around our boy made him laugh which was good.

So after the visit we left for the trip home. I'm so ready to be home. We're still about twenty minutes away. We've been in our truck for twelve hours total this weekend. I've had enough of the road & mcdonald's food to last me awhile. I'll try to post pics of the show this week.

Getting ready for winter..and hope to be losing a few things too

Well we are like the grasshopper in the children's book, not like the ants that prepare for winter. With a huge, mean arctic cold snap headed our way Damon and I rushed out to his Mom's pasture about 15 minutes away to cut down some poor dead trees to heat our home during the next few days.  I had a meeting about our Losing It challenge at the gym..more on that later, and I raced home while he picked up the kids.  I changed out of my gym clothes, threw on some warm clothes and a sexy toboggan (spelling?) and raced out the door. the Mom in me thought just quick enough to grab my son's game and the portable dvd player for Miss E.

We got  the firewood chopped and thrown into the bed of the truck, visited with the Mom in law, and then came back home. I made some cajun chicken with rosemary potatoes and corn, so now we are late on our bedtime schedule. Usually by this time the kids are at least in the bath fixing to get out and go to bed.  Now I'm afraid I'll be up late getting stuff together for tomorrow.  We've been batting Miss E trying to get her in bed. Mr. L is a dream, other than being upset that he couldn't watch a certain show, he went to bed like he was supposed to.

I'm sitting here watching Biggest Loser, and feeling so sorry for these poor people that are so sick.  The one that pulled on my heart strings this season was the woman whose husband is leaving for Afganistan and she worried that she wouldn't be around for her kids.  This show makes me cry. Why do I watch it? Oh yeah, to be inspired.

Speaking of inspired, the gym in our town is sponsoring a Losing It challenge. People that signed up were divided into two teams, red and blue and the trainers are in charge of us. I am on the Blue Team, because blue is AWESOME!! I've worked with the trainer that is in charge of us and I love her, but I may have to hurt her before its all said and done. Some of the things she asked us to do is get 8 hours of sleep, (ok yeah right, but I will try, promise) drink more water (I'll try that too), but the other thing is to limit alcohol and caffeine. The alcohol isn't so bad because I don't drink that often, but the caffeine?? Really?? I know I'm whining a little bit.  So tomorrow, I'm gonna start weaning the coffee out and start drinking green tea. I'm going to try drinking one cup of coffee and then switch to green tea.

Tomorrow I'll try to keep up with the competition progress and also with my goals for this year.

Christmas Photos and New Years

Christmas Pictures

My baby girl before church Christmaas Eve night

Visiting Santa Claus

I remembered this season how truly blessed I am to have my healthy family with a home to celebrate in.   One of my goals this year is to say no to things that don't benefit my family and to be present in the moment with my kids and my husband. Another goal of mine this year is to become healthier, me as well as my family, so we can enjoy more time together. My third goal is to spend more time with my gorgeous husband, and have a date night at least once a month.  The fourth goal of 2010, is to put me back on my to do list. Spend time with myself, and spend time in prayer, and do things to help me claim me as I hit my third decade of life.

I need a vacation from my vacation..

Our Christmas vacation was nice, however I need a vacation from my vacation. My son had pink eye the first week of vacation, Christmas visiting relatives, a friends funeral, then the week of new years I was sick with a monster cold & I was miserable.

It's back to work for us. It wasn't as bad as any of us in the tech dept thought it would be. I'll try & post more pics of the kids from Christmas later.

P.S.,I felt wonderful after my son gave me a picture that said his mommy was a star. :) I hung it up proudly in my kitchen.
