Changing Monday

Ok I have to admit, I haven't been so good on the diet thing in the past few weeks. With my finals for my master's classes and the end of the school year, yeah, healthy eating has bombed by the wayside. But after some soul searching on my part after realizing that my mild depression that creeps back up on me and makes me a witch to those I love (and an emotional trainwreck) I realized that I have to do something and not sit idle.

So I'm jumping back on the Reshaping It All train and will try to go through and keep you up to date on my progress. In one chapter of the book the authors state that you have to have a goal, but not only a goal but a way to achieve it, so here it is, for all the world to see.

1)      What is the goal you hope to attain?

T                     a. To be healthy and skinny. I want to feel good, I want to throw off this devil called depression that constantly nips at my heels.  One way to do that is to eat right and exercise. I want to have enough energy to do all the things that I have to do, work, chase after kids, clean house, spend time with my husband, and not crash the minute I sit down at night. I want to weigh 142 pounds and not get above 145. That seems to be a good place for me to be.  I’ve come to discover you can’t eat the way I’m eating and lose weight. (Chocolate every night just doesn’t seem conducive to losing weight, darn it!!)

1)      What do you hope to gain by reaching this goal?
a.       I want to be healthy and have energy. That’s the main thing. Many nights I crash as soon as I get still in my recliner after work, kids, cooking, cleaning, kids in bed, mom in the chair…zzzzzz. I feel tired a lot of the time, and also I’ve come to notice that I get more irritable and snappish with my family if I don’t work out. I’ve come to find out that I feel better and don’t snap as much when I work out and eat right. It’s something I HAVE TO DO rather than taking pills to put me in a happier mood.  I’m a busy girl, and I have to fuel myself properly or it won’t work.
2)      What is the cost?
a.       What to do to achieve my goal
                                                               i.      Drink 6 glasses of water a day
ii.      Drink sparkling water w/ fruit rather than soda
iii.      Work out for an hour 3 times a week at minimum – get up in the mornings and workout if I know I can’t do it right after work
iv.      Get enough sleep at night – at least 6.5 to 7 hours
                                                             v.      Pack my own better alternatives to junk food to bring to work and on trips so I’m not tempted to snack on chips at work
                                                           vi.      Pray!!

That’s my game plan. I have stuck to it once, unfortunately, it fell by the wayside when this crazy thing called life got really busy. I hope to blog about my journey with good news to report along the way.

I love your goals for losing the extra weight. I've got to get back on it too! I'm carrying about 10 extra pounds (my goal weight is exactly the same as yours!), and I feel yuck.

Step #1 was getting back to wunning this morning. Check!
